Visual Thinking: The City of Mesquite, Texas, Development Review Process: Conbrio recently finished a process improvement project culminating in creating the map above to explain the city’s new eight-step process for obtaining all the approvals necessary to build a commercial building. The project grew from the city’s need better understand its current permitting process, respond to criticism outside City Hall about the current process, reduce friction among city departments involved in administering the process and to streamline the process to eliminate extra steps. The Mayor and members of the City Council praised City Manager Ted Baron and his staff for their work. The city staff put the map on its website at www.cityofmesquite.com
